Ryan Hall has had an amazing 12 months. Last April he broke the American record in his marathon debut, in November he won the US Olympic Marathon Trials and then a few weeks ago he ran an awesome 2:06:17 in his second attempt in London.

Julie Swail

Julie Swail Ertel took home an Olympic silver medal as a water polo player in 2000. The furthest the water polo players ran was a cool quarter mile to and from the pool each day. So after water polo Ertel fell into the sport of triathlon, became a runner and cyclist, and is now is an Olympian once again.

Julius Achon

But that is only the beginning of this amazing story of a young man who was kidnapped from his village when he was 12 years old and forced to become a soldier. He now lives in Oregon, helps Alberto Salazar with his running program and is the sole support for eleven orphans back home in Uganda.
