Danelle Ballengee is simply one of the greatest female endurance athletes of all time. Besides being an elite adventure racer and trail runner, she also summited all 54 of Colorado’s 14,000 foot peaks in 14 days and won six U.S. Athlete of the Year Awards in four different sports. But as we zero in on December 13th, it’s even more important to look back on the six year anniversary of the day she almost died. The story of Nelly and Taz the Wonder Dog is one you won’t soon forget.
