Deena Kastor has a bronze medal from the 2004 Athens Olympic Marathon, a 2:19:36 American Record for the distance, marathon wins in both Chicago and London, and a love of the sport that began when she was 11 years old and running the trails of the Santa Monica Mountains. On March 17th America’s most decorated female runner will be running a marathon for the first time ever in Southern California when she toes the line at Dodger Stadium for the LA Marathon.
Renee Metivier Baillie (Ma-tee-vee-aaa Bailey) spent the better part of the past seven years dealing with a serious Achilles tendon issue. After heading to Sweden and having surgery, Renee is now finally healthy. In September she won the 20K national championship on the road before heading off to Chicago in October and running 2:27 in her first ever marathon. Besides being a great runner with huge potential, you can tell from the interview how excited she is just to be able to run pain free again.
