cmr2Larry Turkheimer, along with the LA Tri Club, created an awesome program four years ago called The Coast 2 Coast Swim Challenge, which is coming up on June 1st the at Culver City Plunge. The goal is for participants to donate to a great cause -providing free swim lessons to underserved kids – while getting in a great workout themselves. This year the Ironman Foundation has partnered up with the LA Tri Club to bring the program to pools all over the country. This year there will be 18 other Tri clubs participating between May 1 and June 30. The goal is to have everyone swim a combined 2,462 miles -the distance between LA and New York City. In the past three years, over 2,500 kids have been taught how to be safe in the water and how to swim. For more information go to

Larry Turkheimer created a program called the Coast 2 Coast Swim Challenge three years ago with the help and support of the LA Tri Club. The program has now helped to teach 1654 inner city youngsters how to swim. 250 supporters are expected to gather at the Culver City Municipal Pool on Sunday, June 2nd to swim and help raise money for the program. Larry Turkheimer is one of the founders of the LA Tri Club and his passion is helping to keep kids water safe. He came on to tell us about the Coast 2 Coast Swim Challenge that the LA Tri Club and Southern Cal Aquatics are putting together. The goal is to have people swim a total of 2,462 miles on May 22 at the Culver City Pool and, through donations, create more swim programs for kids.
