The movie RISE is produced by 16 time Emmy award winners Lisa Lax and Nancy Stern Winters. Lisa was the producer of the Ironman TV shows throughout the Mark Allen era and Nancy produced the CBS coverage of the Tour de France during that same time frame. The twin sisters eventually left television to form Lookalike Productions and created the award winning documentary film Emmanuel’s Gift and, more recently, Unmatched, which chronicled the rivalry of Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert for ESPN’s 30/30 Series.

Their new film RISE premieres in 500 theatres across the country this Thursday February 17. It was created in conjunction with U.S. Figure Skating on the 50th anniversary of the tragic plane crash in 1961 that took the lives of most of the U.S. Figure Skating team and coaches.

Skating legends Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, Scott Hamilton, Brian Boitano and Michelle Kwan are all part of the film.

The first airing in 525 theatres was so well received, RISE will be airing again on Monday March 7th. Go to www.rise1961.com to buy tickets and to find a theatre near you.
