Jesse Thomas broke a bone in his foot a year ago as he came down the last downhill on his way to winning his third consecutive Wildflower Triathlon. He was excited to win, but he was bummed knowing that he would be laid up for a while. ‘A while’ turned into a full year, and, with his nearly one-year old son, Jude, and his wife, Lauren, there with him, Thomas returned to Wildflower to become the first triathlete to win four Wildflower titles in a row. Jesse came on to chat about the emotions he dealt with over this past year and how he thought numerous times that his career just might be over.
Jesse Thomas is getting ready to try and three-peat at the Wildflower Triathlon. He came on to chat about his epic race with Andy Potts at the Oceanside 70.3 in April, where he came up just a bit short, his years as a basketball player-he is one of the few triathletes who ever had the ability to dunk-and his time at Stanford running the steeple. Jesse and his wife, elite runner Lauren Fleshman, are also getting ready to welcome their first child-aka Lima Bean- in just a few months.

Jesse Thomas came on to chat about the bike injury that nearly left him paralyzed, his move from the track to triathlon, and his two huge wins at Wildflower.
Jesse Thomas surprised everyone when he came from eighth place off the bike to win the 2011 Avia Wildflower Triathlon in the last kilometer of the run. But forget that he shocked the triathlon world. That huge win is only the beginning of the Jesse Thomas story. How many runners on their college recruiting trip have ever slam dunked? How many top endurance athletes have come back from breaking their neck? Jesse Thomas is a special athlete with the personality to match.
