Jordan Rapp is the winner of five-not four-Ironman titles (sorry Jordan…..addition wasn’t a prerequisite for hosting a radio show). Fresh off his wins at both Ironman Texas and Ironman New York City this summer, Jordan came on to talk about his first shot at racing Kona coming up in a few weeks, how he has changed as an athlete and a person since his brush with death in 2009, and his plans for race week and race day. Having the Rappstar on the start line in Kona will certainly shake things up!
The newly crowned Leadman Triathlon Champion, Jordan Rapp, was in San Diego for a Q&A with Bob in front of a packed house from Tri Club of San Diego. Jordan went through his pre-triathlon rowing career at Princeton, his move to triathlon, his Ironman Canada and Ironman Arizona wins and, of course, his comeback from a horrific hit-and-run accident in March of 2010.
Tom Sanchez was just driving home from work when his life changed forever. The 2009 Ironman Arizona champion, Jordan Rapp, had just been involved in a horrific accident and was bleeding to death on the pavement. Sanchez’s quick actions not only saved Rapp’s life, they also created a life-long bond between the two.
Jordan Rapp was on a major roll in 2009. After a fourth place at Wildflower, the Princeton graduate and former top rower won Ironman Canada and Ironman Arizona. Out for a training ride in March of 2010, his life changed forever when he was hit by a hit and run driver and nearly bled to death. He is now back and hoping to defend his title in Arizona. The fact that he will be racing only eight months after the accident is amazing.
