Germany’s Sebastian Kienle is coming off his second Ironman 70.3 World Championship title in a row. After a fourth place in his first Kona attempt last year, is he ready to win the big one this time around?
Mel Hauschildt just won her second Ironman 70.3 World Championship. For a former steeplechaser – her steeple stories were hilarious! – who ended up taking a gold at the 2000 Goodwill Games and a silver at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, this triathlete-come-lately certainly is an unbelievable talent. She started cycling to help recover from one of her 13 running-induced stress fractures. Next up was swim training, and in 2011 she won her first Ironman 70.3 World Championship title.
Terenzo Bozzone took second place at the 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championship behind Germany’s Sebastian Kienle. Greg Bennett is one of the most successful short course triathletes in history, took fourth at the Olympics back in 2004, and has probably won more prize money in his career than any other multisport athlete. His goal for 2012 is to race the 5150, 70.3 and Ironman World Championships later this fall. You can tell from the interview that the man still loves what he does.
What a great story. Claudio Palma, a doctor in Northern California, was running Rock N Roll Las Vegas in early December dressed up as Elvis. He also stopped two miles into the half marathon at the Run Through Wedding Chapel with his fiancee’ Rhanee to get married. Then afterwards, while having a hamburger at a local restaurant, still dressed as Elvis, Claudio put on his Superman cape and also became a hero.
